NW is a great direction for Blithfield - there seems to be a local acceleration effect and the chop has time to organise into some reasonable lines. No one out when I arrived, but rigged 5.3 as it looked windy. Then it dropped so rigged 5.8 as well. I never needed the 5.8 as the wind came back and stayed strong all day. Very well powered on 5.3 and I had some fantastic runs across the lake, carving up and down the lines of chop, with a few hops thrown in. Excellent gybing in the flat water of the bay, but gybing overpowered through the chop in the open lake showed how rusty I was. Several guys were on 4.5's.

I wanted to see if the Rad Wave 69 could take a 5.3, so I swapped boards. The smaller board was really smooth and felt fine with the 5.3 and a 23cm fin, but the wind dropped off a little and 69 litres was hard work in the lulls.

Changed the fin on the Max 2 Air, pulled on some more outhaul and went back out for another great session in the slightly lighter wind. The 4.5's were starting to wallow in the lulls.

Overall, a brilliant day of sailing with quite a few out.
